After enjoying our wonderful day in Monterey, walking 10 miles (yes, we're keeping track on our handy dandy pedometer), we decided to soak in the beautiful ocean , barking seals, busy Fisherman's Wharf, and the Turkish music playing in the background. Joanna "escaped" in her book on Alcatraz by an author whose father was a guard on that fateful day back in 1946 when the massive riot broke out. I started writing furiously to come up with witty moments for our blog. What a perfect end to a perfect day!

To See Sea Lions
Once finished at the aquarium, we walked back through Cannery Row and down a pier. We had seen sea lions lounging about and we wanted a better look. Boy, did we get a closer look. As you walk down the pier, on the ocean side, sea lions are lying about the rocks, sleeping. Well, most are sleeping, but some are fighting for space and some are swimming in the water. And then, there are those attempting to bask in the sunlight, despite the lack of sunshine. There are a ton of sea lions in this area and we didn't even see them all.
